The Majestic Tree Hound is a large, loose-skinned American treeing hound with a long head, long dropped ears, and a short coat. The outline is that of a heavy coonhound built to tree big game.

The Majestic Tree Hound is an American treeing hound developed from Bloodhound and coonhound stock to hunt large game such as mountain lion and bear. It is a working type more than an international show breed.

Temperament

These hounds are typically good-natured at home and determined on a track. They have a deep voice and need more running than a short walk. They will follow a scent out of an unfenced yard.

Training

Train the recall early and use a long line. Scent drive is strong.

Care and grooming

Wipe the short coat and clean the long ears after work.

Shedding

Moderate.

Health

As with other heavy hounds, ear infections, eyelid problems, and hip dysplasia can occur. Keep the dog lean.
